FlowMoney ("we," "us," or "our") is a personal finance app for gig workers and self-employed people in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

Bank connection data (optional):
If you connect a bank account via Teller, we receive read-only transaction data. We never store your bank credentials. Bank data is used only to display your spending summary and is never sold or shared.
We do not use your financial data for advertising, credit scoring, or any other purpose not listed above.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Financial profile data is stored server-side to enable cross-device sync.
Manual cash transactions and certain preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted unless you are signed in.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising networks.
FlowAI is an optional in-app assistant that provides personalized financial insights (spending tips, tax planning suggestions, weekly reviews). It is powered by Anthropic's Claude, operated by Anthropic, PBC (Delaware, USA).
Consent is required before any data leaves the app. The first time you use FlowAI you will see a consent modal that clearly names Anthropic as the AI provider, lists the data that will be shared, and links to this Privacy Policy. No AI request is made until you tap "Agree & Continue." You can decline and continue to use every other part of FlowMoney normally.

Training: Under Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service, inputs and outputs sent through the Anthropic API are not used to train Anthropic's models. See Anthropic Commercial Terms and Anthropic's data-use FAQ.
Retention: Your FlowAI conversation history is stored on your device and (if you are signed in) in your Supabase-hosted account so you can revisit it. The copy sent to Anthropic's API is transiently processed to generate a response and is not linked to your identity by us.
Revocation: You can revoke consent at any time in Profile → Revoke AI Access. Revoking immediately stops any future AI requests, clears your saved AI recommendations on the device, and will re-prompt the consent modal if you use FlowAI again.
Receipt Scan (camera + photo library): When you tap "📷 Scan receipt" on the Dashboard, FlowMoney captures a photo of a receipt (via the camera, or selected from your photo library) and sends it to our server endpoint /api/ai/receipt-ocr, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude vision API. The photo is used solely for one-time text extraction (merchant, amount, date, category). It is not stored on our server, in any database, or anywhere else — it is discarded immediately after the response is generated. The recognized fields are returned to your device and you decide whether to save them as an expense. The camera and photo library permissions are only requested on first use of this feature. You can decline and continue to use FlowMoney with manual entry.
FlowMoney provides estimated tax calculations for informational purposes only, based on 2025 IRS figures (Rev. Proc. 2024-40) and Tax Foundation state rates. This is not tax advice.

FlowMoney is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us immediately.
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated in the app and by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
